2009 Gideon Intern Application

Gideon Intern Program (GI)

The Gideon Intern Program is a unique and fabulous part of the Gideon Media Arts Conference & Film Festival. It is designed exclusively for teens between the ages of 16 and 18 who are ready to take their love of the media arts to the next level. Media Arts, you ask? Well, we're talking about things like screenwriting, acting, directing, radio, TV, church drama, and producing. Think you've got the right stuff? Read on to discover more about the program and how you can apply to be a GI - it's boot camp without the sweat!

The GI Intern Program is comprised of two important parts:

Boot Camp Basics

This is our entry track for all first-year interns. You'll participate in an opening session with all the 2009 Interns and your Boot Camp directors to assist you in getting ready for the week. (This session is mandatory and will begin at 1:00 May 31, 2009.) You'll be able to take full advantage of the Gideon conference offerings while getting to participate in special perks afforded the Interns. Not only will your GI Generals be available to help you choose classes and guide you throughout your week, but you'll also be assigned to one of our Captains for extra support.

Custom Cadet Experience

Ah, the piece de resistance of the Intern program! Each intern will be afforded the opportunity to work one on one with industry professionals in their chosen field. That means if you want to write films, we'll get you connected with a working screenwriter. Interested in being a radio host? We can arrange for you to spend some time with one. Each experience will be unique to the individual intern and will be designed once the selection process is completed.

Only a limited number of interns will be invited to participate so be sure you fill out your application completely and send us your best stuff! Only completed applications will be considered. You must turn 16 before the Gideon Conference (May 31-June 4, 2009) and should not turn 19 until after. If you're 19 or older, you are welcome to sign up for the Gideon Media Arts Conference as a regular attendee. If you won't be sixteen by May 31, work hard this year and apply for the GI program in 2010!

New for 2009!

Boot Camp Captain Track:

This is a new Advanced Track and in order to apply, you must have participated as an intern at a previous Gideon conference. Captains will take on some leadership responsibilities in overseeing the Interns while still enjoying full access to the conference teachings and the special perks of the Intern Program. Vonda and Sarah, your GI Generals, will continue to assist the captains to determine what classes would best suit their needs and guide them through the week.

Captain Track Requirements:

  • Previous attendance as a Gideon Intern is required but does not guarantee acceptance into the Captain (Advanced) track.
  • You may still apply to be a Captain even if you are over 18.
  • Captains must complete and submit the Captain Track Application in addition to the rest of the application.
  • Previous Gideon Interns may apply for either the Intern or Captain Track - whichever best suits their desires.

For Intern & Captain Track:

Applications and all required forms are available here at the website. You'll need to print everything out and mail your package in before the deadline. All Interns & Captains will be given unique opportunities throughout the conference, but students are still responsible for all costs associated with attending the Gideon Media Arts Conference, including travel, room, board and tuition.

Application packages will be accepted between September 15, 2008 and January 15, 2009. Those accepted into the program will be notified by February 15, 2009 and must register for the conference no later than March 15, 2009.
