*NEW* TECHNO TRACK
BRIAN STEWART
Flash & HTML5 - What Content Creators Need to Know
Just as the dust settled on the Blu-Ray / HD-DVD battlefront, a new format war erupted. Apple squared off against Adobe (and Google, etc...) over the use of Flash on the web and on mobile devices. But the people most impacted are not necessarily media consumers, but rather media creators. There is a lot of propaganda, and a lot of misleading information being throw around by the companies involved, so find out what you, the content creator, need to know (and in plain, non-technical English too)!
Content Hosting - Getting Your Stuff Out There - And Getting Paid For It Too!
So what's the best way to get eyeballs (or ears) on your masterpiece? Everyone knows about YouTube - but how do you make money from your hard work? Lots of smart folks in established media companies are wondering these same things, so don't expect a magic formula for making millions overnight. But you can expect an overview of ways to host your content online, be it video, audio, or interactive apps or games. We will also be looking at on-demand services like Amazon CreateSpace, Amazon Instant Video (formerly Unbox), and iTunes, as well as subscription options, and platforms like the Apple App Store. We will also briefly cover some of your technical options for hosting your web site.
Interactive Content Everywhere! A Content Creator's Guide
Do you have the transmedia bug? Want to create an iPad game to go with your book? Have an idea for a cool iPhone/Android app that will enhance your brand? Then this class is for you! We will be looking at the platforms, technologies, and potential problems with providing interactive content such as games and small applications across the web, the iPhone/iPad, Android, etc. This class will be high level overview for content creators, designed to arm you with the information you need to oversee the bringing of your idea to life. This will be a fun skim across the surface of this topic - so don't worry about being dragged down into the programming abyss.
